Couples Maternity Portraits are fast becoming my favourite subject to photograph, especially when it’s a first baby. There’s so much excitement, love and anticipation, plus I get to share all these feelings with them and have the joy of being able to capture their newborn in a studio session too!
Seeing families grow and being able to share all their life milestones is so special, the connection I have with couples as their families expand is such a highlight to my profession and it brings so much fulfillment. Each session is unique but with an established client and photographer relationship, it feels so easy and like you’re seeing old friends. The children know the drill and enjoy the excitement of a shoot and knowing they’re going to be having lots of fun! This all makes such a big difference to final portraits, so when you find a good photographer who you like, stick with them!!! You’ll have many years worth of beautiful portraits to cherish and it won’t feel like a chore!
Most Dad’s (and some Mum’s!) I photograph don’t tend to be enthusiastic about having their own portraits taken, my end game is always to capture the best photographs but it’s also about making the whole session enjoyable for everyone. It doesn't need to be stressful, you don’t have to worry about children’s perfect behaviour and it is best to just sit back and have fun with the kids. I’ll guide and tweak certain positions to get the best shots but if the parents can relax, that’s the hardest part done! Relaxed parents = relaxed kids!

Photography sessions for couples can take place in Herefordshire, Hereford, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Forest of Dean, Chepstow, Bristol, South Wales, Stroud, Ross-on-Wye, Monmouth, Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire, Wye Valley. These sessions take place anytime after 32 weeks pregnant, they can include partners and/or older siblings. Perfect in the countryside or at my boutique studio in the Forest of Dean. I have lots of special locations that can be used or if you have a spot that you LOVE then we can use that too!!
